Download “Noob Killer” and get rid of Taga Lipa Are and its variants!
I got hit by this about a week ago. It’s a virus made by someone from MIT (Mapua, that is) and while it doesn’t do any major damage, it can get rather annoying. What follows are the symptoms and a guaranteed working removal tool.
If you got hit by this virus, you will encounter the following:
- The words “TAGA LIPA ARE” on your Internet Explorer title bar
- Inability to change your IE7 homepage
- Inability to double click to open any of your disc drives (this includes removables, but you can open them in Windows Explorer)
Firefox will still work fine however, so I really didn’t bother fixing this until today.
The thing can be detected by AVG antivirus [only] although it is unable to remove it.
TO REMOVE THE VIRUS, DOWNLOAD THE FOLLOWING REMOVAL TOOL FROM EITHER LOCATION. NO NEED TO REFORMAT YOUR COMPUTER!

Additional instructions: Once you download the removal tool, open it (it’s a ZIP file) and run the file called “NOOB.KILLER”. Just click the options there one by one, then restart your computer. You should be fine.

i hope i could create a virus myself and send it to the taga lipa are creator – just kidding. but what he did is no joke.
It is not created by the Lipenos. They only modified the original virus from somewhere. The “creator” said that He is a student of STI College Lipa but the only thing that he did is ripped the virus and modified it. Technically, he is a ripper but non the less a pathetic guy who just wants some attention.

I was annoyed by the virus kasi di naman ako taga lipa or taga marinduque (other version). Taga Manila ako. Our ITC got the removal thing, the one on the top, noob killer is the name. If you have antivirus, it will detect maskrider something. I think filipino made yan. Di lang mapanira, pang-asar lang.
to help u remove it:
this virus is very simple and harmles but its very anoying, when your computer is infected there are two files saved in every drive of your computer (FS6519.dll.vbs, autorun.inf) with a read only attributes, these files are hidden, so configure your explorer to show hidden and system files(in windows explorer click tools, folder options, view, show hidden files and folders), its hard to delete but you can delete it though, it will write two registry entries:
click start, run type: regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Run/FS6519.dll
to delete the word “TAGA LIPA ARE!” in IE delete this registry setting:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Main/Window Title
delete these two registry settings then make sure you also deleted the two files located in
C:\Windows\FS6519.dll.vbs
C:\Windows\autorun.inf
and any fixed and removable drives connected when the virus infects will also be infected, so you need to delete those two files on all drives that you have.
my computer was also infected with that virus, but its fun knowing you can remove it by yourself, happy hunting!

Is it true that “Taga Lipa are Viruses” i hope not he he. some people are.
That’s what i have in mind when my vfat external drive got the two files mentioned above in an internet cafe. Good thing, i first plugged it in my Linux box at home, and discovered those unusual files in the root directory.

aha!! now i know how to remove mamatay na ang mga taga lipa.. its as simple as deleting the taga lipa are..just follow the same steps but this time delete the desktop.ini.vbs script file.. also dont forget to end the wscript processes on your taskmanager..

i have the “mamatay na ang mga taga lipa” version and i’ve tried to remove the problem using the tools above as well as all the other tips i can get from googling it. it’s still not fixed T_T i also read that this version is a bit different from the “taga lipa are” one so maybe i’m missing a step or two? pls help. thanks!
hey guys, try this one. It’s very effective but you should know how to use windows registry editor
1My Computer -> Tools Menu -> Folder Options -> View Tab:
2Select: Show hidden Files and Folders
3Uncheck: Hide Extensions for known file type and Hide Protected operating system
4.Click Yes Then OK.
5.You will see an autorun.inf and FS6519.dll.vbs in all your harddrives. Delete ALL of them.
.If it says that something is using the program. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and go to processes, end ALL wscript.exe
6.Then go to run type regedit and then press ok, go to Edit -> Find and type FS6519.dll.vbs.
7.Edit the found registry by selecting the name, ryt click and modify, remove the last two strings which is wscript.exe and FS6519.dll.vbs and click OK.
8.If finished, press F3 and it will search again for another, just do the same thing until nothing is found in your registry.
9.If you are done with the FS6519.dll.vbs, its time for the TAGA LIPA ARE! be edited in your IE, type the string on the search again then it will show up the IE title … modify then type anything you like or better delete it.

Until now there is no clear instruction on how to remove or cure computers infected with “Mamatay na ang mga taga lipa!” virus/worm. I & some people are waiting and hoping for a cure for this pest.

Download the program from winzip.com then open the file you download here. A zip file is a package of files. Once you open it, you’ll see a NOOB.KILLER program. Open it and click the options.
hello… Magkaiba po ang pagaalis ng taga Lipa are at Mamatay na ang mga taga lipa. My officemate’s computer was infected by Taga Lipa and using the step mention above naalis cya. Pero hindi ito nag work sa Mamatay na ang mga taga lipa virus. walang makitang autorun.inf at FS6519.dll.vbs so definitely it a different version of virus at different way of removing it rin. Maybe a bit updated. Please help!

There are several ways to remove it.
1.) Go to Run
2.) Type cmd
3.) Enter “taskkill /f /im wscript.exe
(This is necessary to kill the vbscript engine).
4.) type gpedit.msc then enter.(This only works for XP Pro not appicable for home users).
5.) Got to User Configuration>Administrative Templates>System
6.) Double Click on the Prevent Access to Registry Editing Tools and Click on Disable then Click Apply
7.) Do not close the gpedit window yet. On the command prompt type regedit
8.) Click edit then find. Search for fsxxxx (xxxx can be of different numbers and ending with .vbs) Delete all keys pointing to this key by doing search and delete). Careful not to delete keys not ending with the .vbs. Some varians are ttmsxxxx.
9.) On the command prompt type cd\
10.) type “attrib -r -s -h *.vbs” and enter
11.) type “del *.vbs” and enter
12.) type “attrib -r -s -h autorun.inf” and enter
13.) type “del autorun.inf” and enter
14.) Repeat this at all your local drives.
15.) Go to your root windows directory mostly c:\windows using the command prompt. (“Do no use the explorer since autorun might be present on your folder and the script will be executed again). repeate steps 10 to 13.
16.) Done

Wahhh patulong naman kung paano tangalin ung MAMATAY NA ANG MGA TAGA LIPA!
para sa “MAMATAY ANG TAGA LIPA”:
1. press ctrl+alt+delete to run task manager
2. go to “processes” and end “wscript.exe”
3. run the search/find option on the start menu for
“desktop.ini.vbs” and delete all instances of the same
4. make a new search for “autorun.inf” and delete as well.
5. and just to make sure you don’t have anything wonky left, go to “regedit” search for the string “mamatay” and modify it to something…er…friendlier? it should NOT go back to “mamatay…” when you restart the computer…
that routine worked for my unit, so it’ll hopefully do the same for yours. BTW, in my situation, “autorun.inf” wasn’t just in the outermost layer of my harddrives, but were also in the folders of my two biggest files (both games…) i deleted them anyway, (despite the fact that i was afraid it might damage the files in any way… but i realized i could reinstall) but it didn’t seem to affect the software.
as i mentioned before, i have the “mamatay na ang mga taga-lipa” version. i followed J Berame’s instructions and it worked. thanks!

As far as I understand, the tool removes the virus but it does not prevent it from occuring. Does any of you know of a step or tool to prevent it?

- restart pc then press F8 continously then it will appear a black screen with a white text..choose safe mode then enter, dailog box will appear click OK…Now, ypu can use your flash drive without infecting your USB drive..tnx!

The MINATAY virus works just like the LIPA and etc… all you have to do is run NOOB_KILLER.exe then click Advanced-{Noob KILL]. Under Script Filename type , without quotes, ‘minatay.dll.vbs’ and under Script Registry Entry type, again without quotes, ‘minatay’. Then Click OK.
I can now 2xclick my drives since the bold AUTOPLAY option in the context menu is gone.

NOT those people who got Infected, that’s just not right, you can’t blame people if they’ve made the wrong decisions in choosing lame antiviruses.

Thank you for helping me remove the Taga virus. I didn’t know it was one, but i was wondering how it came into the explorer. I use Fire Fox so I didn’t worry about anything. Then I thought of searching the net, in case it was a virus, which it was….An yway I am glad you had given the remedy in your web site …

1.) press ctrl-alt-del go to process, then end all wscript.exe, i mean all ha.
2.) then go to My Computer, go to folder options through the tools menu then press the view tab, then to the advance settings window check on show hidden files and folders uncheck hide extensions for known file types and uncheck hide protected operating system files.
3.) go to My Computer again ryt click ur local drives your drive a(floppy drive), hard drive and your flash drive. find maskrider2001.vbs manually the single click on it then press shift delete.
4.) go to My computer ryt click and explore ur local hard drive( mostly drive c) go to WINDOWS and find maskrider2001.vbs then shift delete it.
5.) go to ur start up then press “run” type cmd press enter, then type at the prompt gpedit, Go to User Configuration>Administrative>Templates>System then Double Click on the Prevent Access to Registry Editing Tools and Click on Disable then Click Apply
6.) go to start again then press run then type regedit then delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\maskrider and also delete or change
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Window Title=[new title].
7.) restart your computer then then go to My Computer, go to folder options through the tools menu then press the view tab, then to the advance settings window check on do not show hidden files and folders check hide extensions for known file types and check hide protected operating system files.
and that’s it guys hope this’ll helps.

3.) go to My Computer again ryt click ur local drives your drive a(floppy drive), hard drive and your flash drive. find maskrider2001.vbs manually the single click on it then press shift delete.
4.) go to My computer ryt click and explore ur local hard drive( mostly drive c) go to WINDOWS and find maskrider2001.vbs then shift delete it.
5.) go to ur start up then press “run” type cmd press enter, then type at the prompt gpedit.msc, Go to User Configuration>Administrative>Templates>System then Double Click on the Prevent Access to Registry Editing Tools and Click on Disable then Click Apply
6.) go to start again then press run then type regedit then delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\maskrider and also delete or change
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Window Title=[new title].
7.) restart your computer then then go to My Computer, go to folder options through the tools menu then press the view tab, then to the advance settings window check on do not show hidden files and folders check hide extensions for known file types and check hide protected operating system files.
and that’s it guys hope this’ll helps.

Sir Martin, I tried last night your NOOB Killer on my External HDD to resolve that TLA Virus which caused me troubles (cannot open by double clicking). After executing all options on your NOOB and restarting my laptop, I cannot access/open the two drives of my External HD anymore. It can be detected though in any desktop/laptop but it seems nothing was there because it was not listed in MY COMPUTER drives even if I refresh the folder over repeatedly. I’m using Avast Home ed anti virus and ie7. Copied a movie from my friend’s pc which is infected by the oragon u virus which manifested in his computer at the clock and greatly slowed down his pc. So far hindi pa lumalabas yun virus symptoms sa pc ko. The reason Idownloaded the anti virus for the oragon for preparation. Mahirap ng tamaan. Is there any “vaccine” for this virus or do you need to get hit first then treat later? How do you get infected in the first place? Thanks.

Thanx for this. I dunno if I had the virus, but it fixed my problem, which was the inability to open drives with a double click.
FYI guys, I think there is a new variant to this virus. This time its saving a file called pcm.dll.vbs on the USB drives, inside your windows and system32 folders.
Haaay… I think I’ll go to Linux.

2. my computer goto menu bar tools > folder options>> click show hidde files and folders.

Hello po, I just want to ask kung san po nanggagaling ung virus na to para lang po maiwasan sa PC ng cuz ko. I’ve been seeing this Taga Lipa Are in his IE for days now and I don’t think he has any idea that this is a virus.
I just want to know kung san po nangagaling if it’s from a website or an email attachment so I can tell him.

Taga Lipa Are virus got into my laptop and thanx to the tehnical information given in your website and the provided removal tool I was able to save my cherised files from possible disaster. The removal is simple and may be executed by anyone. I hope the author of the vius will find more productive ways to use his talent.

hi biscuit, the main means of propagation of this worm is through mass storage devices, removable media such as flashdrives, memory cards or it’s other name derivatives “usb drive, thumb drive, pen drive”
it uses the autoplay feature to automate the script hence allowing the files to be copied, and infect more users once a new “uninfected” drive is inserted.
you can find a “disable autoplay” feature from the noob killer tools menu to prevent worms from automatically infecting your PC.

also, for the guys running vista, try running the noob killer as administrator.

Kristine, Not sure what you mean, but TLA (TAGA LIPA ARE) uses autorun.inf to get around, if you see it, then be suspicious, you can always use our tool here to get rid of it, of course, there are many “MORE” deadly worms, and viruses out there, again, Prevention is the key, it’s always better than cure.
about your numerous problems, we cant assure you that they will be fixed, but our tool here might help get you back in control.
have your anti-virus update, install an antispy, my top picks for these are

Nod32, Kaspersky, I’ve been using these two for years.
for your anti-spy, there’s always Spybot SE, Ad-aware and Xoftspy, the first two are free, you must pay for xoftspy, its a good program and I use it myself.
regarding these “kuro-kuro’s”,
the answer is simple, that was never my intention, I’m here to help,

also, for kristine’s site advisor issue, the LINK reported there dated back since last year, the file there was from the old noob killer which uses a different FILE protector, prevents other meanies or even people from editing OUR file.
though, the packer or protector I used was known to be widely used by people who make keygens and cracks, anti-viruses hate these things, hence, our tool here uses the same routine, got caught up in their firefight.
