And then there were five.

I met my remaining three sections yesterday, and all I can say is that I’m enjoying their energy a lot. It’s very positive and that’s a tremendously good thing. I can’t wait for us to get started on all our activities for the year since as one ‘09 student told me, “Sir, this will be your banner year.” I hope so.

I met Rosal at 12:00, my first high noon class ever, and it was in that class where I got asked the strangest question ever. “Sir, are you a necromancer?” (He asked that after I said that I’ll bring the characters of history to life for them.) I responded by shushing the student, walked up to another and said, “You have such a nice soul.” That must be the creepiest comeback ever!

After that class, I had a break for two periods. I can’t believe how wonderful it is to have breathing space! I was so productive then, from taking my lunch to testing the video for today to preparing my surprise for Thursday and Friday. It got me all relaxed for my next two classes, which is a mode I am not used to when I’m at work.

My day was rounded up with meeting Dahlia and Ilang-Ilang. If yesterday I felt my rustiness, today I felt not a single trace of it. It’s so great to come back to the classroom! I really got in the zone, walking the line between insanity (I demonstrated how a burger talks) and inspiration (I hope).

Whenever I speak to a class now, I always have my last day with ‘09 in my mind. That was a great moment which I will always aspire towards for the rest of my days. What I have this year that I didn’t have in the past is a heightened sense of how my students see me, and how I can do my job best. I hope and pray that my year with ‘10 will all be the better for it.

I drove home yesterday looking forward to meeting my classes today. And tomorrow. And the next day. When you feel that, you just know that you’re where you’re supposed to be.
