In the study of history, nothing is more exciting than having a direct window to the past! And the best way for us to do that is through primary sources. While it’s fun to explore and criticize interpretations, the past becomes much more personal and engaging when we do it ourselves. It is possible to time travel, even if only through the ideas and feelings we get by looking at the records people left behind.
For the first volume in our collection of primary sources for class, we have some selections from Ancient Mesopotamia to the land of the Aryans. We will be reading some stories that may be eerily familiar, as well as the first ever code of laws and the awesome higher power they answer to. To download a copy of the file, click the link below.

Reading schedule:
For this week (6/25), we will take up THE CODE OF HAMMURABI (pages 9 to 13). TIP: Print that out first.
For next week (7/2), we will look at everything else from the ENUMA ELISH to the AVESTA.

Aww…sir…these pdf files are so hard to print since the cheapest printing style with the pdf makes the text so blurry so i need to get to the normal style, but it takes long for our printer to print even just a page. Sir…suggestion lang po…
