This is the storyline that got me into comics. Already a fan of the Man of Steel before I picked up my first comic book, 1993’s “The Death of Superman” got me into the hobby and I continue to pick up comic books to this day.

And on September 18 of this year, it comes back in a big way! Straight into our DVDs comes the animated movie, “Superman/Doomsday” that adapts the Death and Return of Superman storyline into a 75 minute film. I really can’t wait for this!

  1. Wow superman actually dies?? cool…but who will replace superman??

  2. cool they make a movie from the comic i got the graphic novel about supermans death

  3. … its doomsday right? uhh… I think he already fought him before… I’m not sure, this seems vaguely familiar to me hahaha

  4. Haha… I remember that one.
It was pretty thick… and graphic. Very very graphic.
I think the cover featured Superman covered in blood…
I didn’t read it to the end, though. And I regret that decision.

  5. Will there be Superboy, Steel and whathisname? :D Or is that some other comic arc? Or am I completely wrong?

  6. Oh, cool! FINALLY! Hehehe. Thanks for sharing the images!

  7. Too bad this is not DCAU canon. :(

But still, this is gonna be frigging awesome! One gripe, though: why is the cartoon Superman’s clothes not torn apart?

  8. I guess to make it kid friendly? That’s WB Animation for you…

  9. I have loved DC Comics sice 1965. I still buy the dvd’s of JLA etc and will probably continue to do so. However I must point out that the animation style being used since the Superman Batman adventures of the 90’s has dissapointed me for some time. Ever since Marvel comics at the same time came out with Spiderman and the X-Men whose animation I hate to admit is better. DC Comics has continued to use what I call ‘Lazy Animation’. Where the marvel characters have very well defined muscle tones, DC has settled to using large shoulders and a few lines on the upper torso to define a Superhero. This is sad especially for Superman who in the graphic novel photos above is clearly superior to the tv, dvd version. Thank YOu

  10. I agree, and I hate that DC never seems to update their comic movies with a better graphic artist.

the graphics they use for the movies are so lame and looks like cartoon that only kids of 4 years old should watch.

Why not to make it more like the real graphics magazine?

I watch all the movies but can’t help but to be dissapointed with the art work.

  11. My thoughts on Superman Doomsday are this, I truly enjoyed the DVD, but why did Lois Lane get some much screen time? She, to me, took away @ least 2 stars from the overall quality of the movie, give her her own movie if she needs that much screen time. 2 thumbs up for Superman, 2 thumbs down for Lois Lane. Peace, Happiness, and all that other good stuff. Lonnie.

  12. The movie is hot the last days of superman

  13. I thought the movie left out far to much of the story. The story that preceedes the dramtic fight between Superman & Doomsday was less then expected. There was no mention of the Justice Leauge. Lex Luther althought is pure scum had nothing to do with doomsday release from his ancient tomb or how he cloned Superman was just insulting. The graphics left a lot to be desired. As I sit here and write this I am forced to wonder just how much better this movie would have been if it had been hand drawn like the cartoon movies of old.
Also I think that the reign of imposters & rebirth of the original Superman could and should have been its own movie. So in closing I think that DC comics should be ashamed of themselves for ruining what should have been a great, heart renching, adrenilin filled, keep you on the seat of your chair, movie(movies). But no instead they churn out some piece of gagbarge that will spoil what was a turning point in the comic industry, as well as ruining The Deah Of Superman for the generations that have followed the 1993 release of the written stories.
