SS2 Task: “Gandhi” reaction paper guidelines and questions
SPECIFICATIONS: Maximum of 1 page per question, Times New Roman or Cambria font, size 10, 1.5 spacing, justified, 1” margin left and right
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose to answer one or both questions. Average score will go to your Papers and Projects component (30% of CS). Papers to get 1.50 up can be considered as entries in the History Book Project.
1. At the very end of the film, Margaret Bourke-White (the reporter Gandhi called a “temptress”) remarked that there is “a sadness” about Gandhi. He seemed to feel that he had failed. Why would Gandhi think he failed and do you agree that he did? (You may write your response to this item as a letter you would have written Gandhi, if you had the chance.)
2. Reflect on the following statement:
“Mahatma Gandhi had become the spokesman for the conscience of mankind, a man who made humility and simple truth more powerful than empires.”
What lessons should our world today learn from Gandhiji? How did you find him as a person and what would you most likely remember about the man?
