Martin Perez Sidelined Due To Injury

Martin Perez Sidelined Due To Injury

It has been reported that Martin Perez requires surgery to repair the radial head in his right elbow after fracturing it. This injury was caused by an accident at his ranch in Venezuela in December. The Rangers Club experts expect Martin Perez to be put on the sidelines for around four months. However, this will likely slate his return to the Rangers’ rotation in April. The Rangers president and the general manager Jon Daniels has stated that Martin Perez’ injury isn’t serious enough to alter the clubs off season plans. They have spent most of their off season training and starting pitching depth. The club continued that strategy Tuesday, signing right-handers Austin Bibens-Dirkx and Erik Goeddel to Minor League contracts.

The Rangers Season Rotation

The Rangers Season Rotation

Martin Perez is due to start this week against Astos, but only if both teams are able to play the three-game series elsewhere, due to floods in Houston. Andrew Cashner is being postponed to later in the week, then the Rangers are planning to bring in Hamels for the final against the Astros. Reliever Jake Diekman is due to pitch for Triple-A Round Rock at the beginning of the week. This will be his fifth outing since he came out of rehab, as he is still recovering from three abdominal surgeries this year. This may suggest they are going to bring him back gradually into play as he is still recovering from these surgeries. It is expected that he is to be activated in September following his recovery. Matt Bush, is another team member to add to the disabled list with a sprained right knee, but this hasn’t stopped him as he has started playing catch back in Texas. He has been cleared of the concussion protocol as a result of the collision with Joey Gallo last week. Keone Kela is also on the list as he has strained his right shoulder, which has caused him to be limited to light catch. He has been out of play since August 3rd.
